More holidays

back again. Continuing on from where I left off we did more city sightseeing on the Tuesday. It was cold and occasionally wet but we enjoyed our look around.
I wanted to see some gardens as the Autumn colour was magnificent. We went to the Fitzroy Gardens and wandered through and saw Cooks Cottage while there.

Next we went to the museum as we thought it would be a place to keep warm and dry.

This is Pharlap.

On Wednesday I decided I was too tired to go out and wanted to be OK for the start of Convention. We had a dinner with all the ESAD demos on Wednesday night. It was a swap dinner and as Tracy was coming along I helped her do some swaps. We were putting them in bags on the way in on the train.

Thursday was the start of Convention and swapping our cards. It was a good day with the first session in the afternoon. This was the stage at convention.
Graham went to the MCG for the day and did the tour and saw the sports museum. He met me after Convention and we went to the Casino for some dinner before catching the train home.

Friday was more convention and Graham went to a football game at the MCG and froze. I had a nice quiet evening at Tracy's. I'll be back with more tomorrow.

Holiday Update

Hi there, Wow its been over a week since I got home and I have not posted on here. I did have a busy week last week but as this week is going to be a quiet one I have no excuse not to spend some time on the computer. I have decided to do a summary in Photos of our Melbourne trip so my family can see where we have been and also for me. My memory isn't always the best so this will be good for me later in the year.
I'm going back to the day we arrived in Melbourne so before the photos from my post about the Werribee Zoo.
When we first arrived we stayed one night at a hotel on Flinders St. We got a weekly train tram and bus pass so we went to Flinders St Station many times.
Sunday we went to the Victoria St markets and I learnt how to carve soap.

It was a wet day so my friend and down line Tracy picked us up at the hotel and we stayed the rest of our holiday with her and Richard.

On Monday we did some sight seeing in the city. First we went up to the Eureka Sky deck which is at the top of this building I am standing in front of. The views were amazing as you could see all over Melbourne.

I posted my postcards from the highest post box in Australia.
we caught the free tram around the city. There are so many different trams but this one was a vintage one.
Our next stop was the Aquarium.

these are a couple of the new trams around Melbourne.
I think I'll end this post here and do the next days outing in the next post.

Holidaying in Victoria

hi again,
Convention is over and now Graham and I have hired a car and we are driving out to the country areas to do some sight seeing.  Yesterday we went to the Werribee Open Plain Zoo and I took heaps of photos of the animals.
Tonight we are staying in Ballarat in country Victoria. We drove the Great Ocean Road today. This morning the sun was shining and it was such a lovely day but as the afternoon went along it got cloudy and very overcast. I thought Id show you some of the photos I have taken. These first ones are the animals we saw in the zoo.

We saw this Koala in a tree on the side of the road. Its the first time I have seen a Koala in the wild. He was happily eating his lunch. There were are few others but they were sleeping higher up.

This morning the sun was out and the coast looked fabulous.
This was the 12 Apostles but it was quite overcast by the time we got there so not as good for photos.
Well that's all for today. Hope to show you more next time I have access to the net.

Convention Swap

Hi there, I'm here in not so sunny Melbourne. Convention started today and it was loads of fun but tiring. I thought it was time to show you my swap card but I just realised that I haven't taken a photo of the changed version but here is the original card made as an Easel. I changed it to straight square of daffodil delight and then a scalloped white square for the daffodils to be placed on. I stamped, painted and cut out 300 of the daffodil flowers to make my 100 swaps and they are all gone now and I have so many wonderful swaps in return.

So far Graham and I have done our sight seeing in the city but next week we are going to see some of the country areas before returning home next Friday. My feet are crying out for a day off so will look forward to Sunday for a rest day. Melbourne put on their coldest May day ever yesterday for us. I actually don't mind the cold but I really don't like the overheated buildings once you get inside.
I will try to drop in again soon to let you know how we are going. thanks for stopping by.

Because I Care Easel

hi again,
I taught a card I had made last year with Because I Care on Monday night and then with my extra coloured pieces I decided to make another twisted Easel card. I made 2 actually so here they are.
This one I think needs a butterfly or something on the right hand side.
this is close up of the painted flower. I did 3 and layered them. I used the daffodil delight marker for the centres and Concord Crush reinker for all the other colours. You just need to water down the ink to get the colour you want.
I used Old Olive for the leaves and to mat the main piece with.

I am off to Melbourne in the morning and have been doing some research on places to go. We are hiring a car for our second week and plan to see some of the country in Victoria. I'm finally getting excited about this trip. I'm sure Convention will be fabulous as usual. I will post while away whenever I can.
have a great weekend

Motorcycle Twisted Easel

hi there,
As promised here is another Easel card. At one stage during stamp club I thought I was going to have to change the stamp on my easel card as I couldn't find my sail away stamp. Anyway after everyone had gone home I thought that since I had a kit left I would make it up using the Motorcycle stamp. All I did was omit the border punch and emboss the red and turn the main part of the card around. What do you think?
I paper pieced the red parts of the bike to give it some dimension. Now I have another male card handy for when I need one.

well that's all for today. I am leaving for Convention and a holiday with Graham on Saturday so need to start thinking about what to pack. I think Melbourne weather will be cooler than here in Perth. If you have any suggestions as to what tourist places we should visit while there please let me know.

Another Twisted Easel Card

Hi again,
thank you so much for your encouraging comments on my bog hop post. I taught that card and this one that I am showing you today at my stamp club. Everyone enjoyed making these cards.
My second card I used my favourite rose from Fifth Avenue Floral. I embossed it with white embossing powder on Pink Pirouette. I managed to knock my whole container of embossing powder on the floor as I was demonstrating, but without saying anything leaned over and got a new pot of it out of my drawer. I was pleased with myself for not stressing about the spilt powder.
Then using a paintbrush and reinker I shaded the areas under each petal. I used both Pink Pirouette and Pretty in Pink for shading and then used Whisper White to add a few highlights.I embossed the white background piece with Manhattan Floral embossing folder.

thanks for stopping by again. I hope to show you another twisted easel card this week.
