Some of the cards using retiring sets.

Here are some of the cards we made yesterday. You may have seen some of these before but here they are again.

This one is using Simple Sketches and wax paper resist technique.

This one is using Cheesecloth and Print Pattern backgrounds and Set Sail
which is stamped on vellum and embossed.

One of the Mixed Bouquet cards I've shown before.

Using Buckeroo Blue as a retiring In Colour

This one using the retiring Sarah Designer paper and In Full Bloom stamp set.

Friendship Blooms and Going Grey for this card

There were some more cards as well and as they were all quite easy cards everyone finished early and had 9 cards to take home. I plan to have a stamping day every second month so if you are interested in going on my invite list let me know. I also provide lunch and morning and afternoon tea. Thank you to my good friend and helper, Sandra for making the yummy scones and also helping with cutting up all the kits.

First Function in My New Room

Yesterday I held my first stamping function in the new room. Even though it isnt finished yet it went really well. I held a day for my stamp club ladies making cards using retiring sets. It was a fun day. I will show some of the cards we made next.

Paving Down

We decided that Graham had worked so hard on building the room and saved us money on it, that we would get a landscaper to lay the paving for us. It also saved Graham's back. This picture isnt that great as the top sand is still on it but you get the idea. This area is my new courtyard. It is shaded in the afternoons so its lovely to sit out there with a cuppa after Graham gets home from work.

Back Room Nearly Finished

Graham put up all the cornices last weekend. He said it was much harder than he thought but he did a great job. He has also started painting the undercoat. We hope to finish the painting this week and then start on the flooring. On the home straight now.

Long Time Friend and New Catalogue Launch

The new Idea Book and catalogue is here and this lovely set, Long Time Friend is not in it, which is disappointing. Anyway I thought I would show you a couple of cards that I have made with it.
Remember that the Summer Mini catalogue finishes on March 31 so if you want any of the sets in there you will need to order before the end of the month. I will be putting a final order in on March 29th if you want anything. Also that will be the last order for the retired sets as well.

I will be holding a 2008/2009 IB&C launch at my place on Friday 4th April in 2 sessions. 10.30am and 7.30pm so if you would like to come please let me know so I can make a kit for the make and takes for you. I will have sample cards made with lots of the new sets and we will be making cards as well. Please come and have a fun time.

Happy Easter and Update

Happy Easter to everyone. I have been unwell so havent put anything on my blog for a week but I now have some new pics of the room, and also my grown up boy on his way to the school ball.

The ceiling goes up.
Last piece goes in. Later when looking everywhere for his tape measure, Graham remembers it was up in the the ceiling before that last sheet went up.

David turned 17 on Sunday and here he is this afternoon in a suit ready to go to the school ball.

Iris Fold Boats

Yesterday I taught these iris fold boats. I cased the cards from my friend Colleen and the pattern is designed by Valita Reynolds. She is a very talented iris fold pattern maker. These cards are using envelopes for the patterned section and then some plain paper to match. I used the happy birthday cuttlebug folder on the first one and on the second one, the Father's day stamp is from Stampin' Up!

Sketch an Event

Today I taught a class and used the retired set Sketch an Event. I love this set and had fun using my cuttlebug for the background. Of course when there is painting involved I always love it.

Back Room Update for this Weekend

This weekend Graham has worked on putting up all the gyprock walls in the room. He has never done this before but managed to do a great job. Now we just have to get the ceiling done and the plastering and the room will be finished ready for painting etc.

We also went to a wedding of a friend of Graham's last night and had a lovely time. Graham danced all night while I watched as I have a sore leg and can't dance. Does this look like he is having fun? He needed to have some fun after all the hard work he has been doing.

I have been tagged

I have been tagged by Diane. You can find her blog here .I am not too sure what I'm supposed to do as I'm new to all this but I will give it a go anyway. Thank you Diane for tagging me.

The rules of the game:
• Link to the person that tagged you and post the rules on your blog.
• Share 7 random and/or weird facts about yourself on your blog, we all want to know them.
• Tag 7 random people at the end of your post and include links to their blogs.
• Let each person know that they have been tagged by leaving a comment on their blog.

Now to think of 7 random or weird facts about me. Not something I have thought about in awhile.
1. I am number 4 of 5 children, 4 girls and a boy.
2. I grew up on a farm.
3. I was a nurse until I injured my back in 1990.
4. I have sung in the Opera House. (part of a choir singing the Messiah)
5. I lived in Sydney for 4 years.
6. I travelled in Europe and the UK in 1984.
7. I'm addicted to craft and have tried most crafts over the years.... but you all knew that.

now it gets a little harder as I dont know very many bloggers well enough to tag them but I will tag those I visit lots.

Cambria sews on her cards lots and you can see her latest here

Alisa is a fellow SU demonstrator in Australia and has a great blog here

Vicki is a good friend from Washington State. She is away on vacation at the moment but she will see that she has been tagged when she gets back.

Linda makes such nice cards.

Well I will have to stop there as this is getting too hard. Sorry but Im really new to this tagging. There I was thinking...I'll never get tagged.

Anyway hope you all had a good weekend.

Parchment Cards

I've been very slack when it comes to blogging. Sorry for the long break since my last post.
Today I had my general card making class at home and I taught the ladies parchment cards. Very basic embossing on vellum. Just trace onto vellum with a white gel pen and then turn over and emboss from back and add highlighted areas and then colour with markers from the back as well. We will be doing these cards at LBC next week as well. I think they turned out quite nice

This card is just whitework with no colouring after embossing. I think it looks effective just like this. I added a white sticker greeting to go with the all white look.
